Native to tropical America, the Urucum tree has light green leaves and pink flowers, with fruits whose seeds are bright red. On the other hand, the strong red is due to the high content of bixin present in the seeds of Urucum - around 3%. This natural pigment combined with high levels of vitamin A makes Urucum an ideal ingredient for the formulation of cosmetics and natural tanning products.
